Browsers Memory Battle
There is an article in ComputerWorld.com called “Firefox 3.0 wins memory battle, says tester“. Sam Allen was testing Firefox, Internet Explorer (IE), Flock, Opera and Safari web browsers to see who wins in the memory management. “Test” is quite funny. There are no graphs at all and basically nothing… I guess this is what quality article is all about.
Web Browsers Security Test
Time for yet another web browsers security article. So there’s a test called “Browser Security Test” which I found today and decided to run it on the latest stable web browsers releases. What about results?

Opera Doesn’t Respect Users (aka Lost Vision)?
Some time ago there were some Mozilla bashing regarding users tracking and disrespect. Well, today I’d like to criticize Opera Software a bit.
Let’s begin with the quote from Opera’s Vision page:
We believe in respect for our users.
… Opera Software will never forget that its main focus is the user. Continue Reading

It’s been 7 days since Firefox 3 launch and so far it was downloaded more than 20 million times, 8 290 908 downloads were in 24 hours.

Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) vs. Firefox 3 vs. Safari 3.1.2 vs. Opera 9.5
Here’s another GadgetZone’s article: “Firefox 3 vs IE 7 vs Safari 3.1.2 vs Opera 9.5”.
After new Firefox 3, Safari and Opera 9.5 releases, they’ve re-done browser group test. Feel free to check it.
Safari 3.1.2 Released
Safari 3.1.2 for Windows was just released which fixes few security issues.
Viewing a maliciously crafted BMP or GIF image may lead to information disclosure
Saving untrusted files to the Windows desktop may lead to the execution of arbitrary code
Visiting a malicious website which is in a trusted Internet Explorer zone may lead to the automatic execution of arbitrary code
Visiting a maliciously crafted website may lead to an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution
It’s always recommended to use the latest stable version of any web browser, especially when we are talking about security updates.
Firefox 3 Reaches 8 290 908 Downloads in 24 Hours
The numbers are here. After 24 hours, Firefox 3 was downloaded 8 290 908 times. That’s what I call a good marketing campaign which requires no or very less cash. Who can now complain with the phrase like “we don’t have a lot of money for big marketing campaign?” Anyone could have done that, but Firefox team members are geniuses and did that first.
It’s not clear yet if this record will be added to the Guinness book, waiting for approval.
Congratulations.

Firefox 3 Final Released
As promised by Firefox team, its newest version was just released. There were a lot of pleasant changes since Firefox 2. Most important, memory usage was reduced and a lot of memory leaks were fixed.
Firefox 3 also includes various security updates, malware Protection, upgraded download manager, plugin management, platform integration (new look), and much more. Continue Reading
