Worldwide Web Browsers Market Share (Animation)
Recently, Business Insider has posted an article, which includes a bunch of browsers market share data from 2008 all the way to 2015.
While it looks cool and interesting, we have decided to go one step further and blend all these images into a simple animation, giving you a better look on how exactly did the browsers battled for the dominance since 2008 and how was Internet Explorer (and then Firefox) overtaken by Google Chrome.

Microsoft Edge To Receive Tab Previews
Hopefully, extensions are not far away too.
As we all wait for the next Windows 10 Insider Preview, during Ignire keynote at New Zealand, Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore has accidentally revealed one of the upcoming Edge features: tab previews.
How exactly did this happen? During the event, Joe was simply demoing Cortana and the way it enhances your searches when he accidentally moved mouse on one of the tabs, resulting in a thumbnail preview picture. While ignoring at first, Belfiore later did state that “there’s one other thing in the Edge browser that I mistakenly revealed as I was doing this [showcasing Cortana on Edge] is a small feature we have not shown anyone yet but is coming to our Insider builds really soon and that is this tab preview feature,”

New Opera Mini For Android Is Here
Windows Phone version should be coming soon.
Some time ago, Norwegian browser maker has launched a new version of Opera Mini for iOS and now it looks like the very same technology has made it into the Android release as well.
What are we talking about? The ability to chose whether you want more data savings (extreme mode) or better sites compatibility (high data savings mode).

AdBlock Browser Now On Apple’s IOS, Android Beta Ends
Might be bit too late.
After announcing AdBlock Browser some time ago, it looks like it has finally been released (prior the Apple’s event) on iPads, iPhones and iPods.
However, with the release of iOS 9, its main selling point is no longer that great as the latest Safari version supports content blocking extensions.
As far as AdBlock Browser itself goes, just like with extensions, you can whitelist particular sites to keep web owners from becoming homeless. In addition to that, it claims to save data and up to 20% of battery life when you block tracking cookies and social media sharing buttons.

Mozilla’s Bugzilla Compromised, Sensitive Data Stolen
Does not appear to be as bad as one might think.
Bugzilla, a bug tracker that is used by Mozilla, Webkit, FreeBSD, the Linux kernel, Apache and many other vendors, has been recently compromised.
As detailed in the blog post, the attacker broke into one of the accounts and gained access to the security sensitive data. Mozilla also believes that the newly acquired information then was used to attack Firefox users. On a positive note, it looks like the vulnerability that he or she reportedly exploited has already been patched at the end of August.

Microsoft Starts Recommending Incomplete Edge Browser To Bing Users
Be thankful if you are not from the US.
While we don’t think that Edge is really ready for the general public, it looks like the software giant thinks otherwise. Despite a lot of lacking features and weird glitches, Microsoft has decided to go ahead and start the promotion of its latest web browser for none other than the Bing users.
If you were to search for Firefox or Google Chrome while running Windows 10, a notification bar will appear asking you to consider using Microsoft Edge instead.

Microsoft Will Pay You To Use Edge
Hello, Bing Rewards.
A long time ago and in an effort to gain additional market share, the software giant has launched Bing Rewards, where users could earn points by ditching Google in favor of Bing, which can be later redeemed for Xbox Live Gold and other services or products.
Now, it looks like Microsoft has decided to use the very same strategy for Edge, it’s newest web browser. As you can see in the screenshot below, there is a new section in Bing Rewards area where extra credits and exclusive deals are offered to use using Microsoft Edge.

Mozilla Starts Firefox For IOS Rollout, Hint: It’s Promising
New Zealand is first on the list.
After refusing to create Firefox for iOS in the first place and them giving in to the pressure, Mozilla has finally announced the limited availability of Firefox for Apple’s devices.
Interestingly enough, the first preview is only available for the consumers in New Zealand with more countries said to be added later this year. We are not entirely sure why did Mozilla choose NZ (although we can guess), but the open source organization said that now their goal is to simply collect feedback and use it to shape up the overall development of Firefox for iOS.

Google Chrome 45 Is 25% More Memory Efficient
When browsing Gmail.
Remember when days when pretty much every browser maker reported the improvements they have made to the performance on monthly basis? Then everyone got quiet and worked mostly on new features and such.
Well, today you can relive the glory days as Google has just announced the awesome optimizations they made for Google Chrome 45. By aggressively cleaning the unused memory, web sites now consume around 10% less memory and when it comes to heavy applications (like Gmail), the difference is even more noticeable.

Microsoft Finally Acknowledges Google’s WebM Format
Will join other web browsers.
Now here is something that will make at least few people happy. If you have been following the user voice page for Microsoft Edge, then a request (wuth over 3,000 votes) for native WebM support has likely crossed your field of vision at least once.
Submitted almost a year ago, it has been left unnoticed by Microsoft up until now as just yesterday the software giant has announced that they have finally started working on the native WebM implementation.
