IE8 vs. Google Chrome 18 vs. Firefox 11 vs. Opera 11.6 vs. Safari 5.1
Windows XP edition.
Despite very positive Windows 7 reviews, it still remains the #2 operating system, right behind everyone’s beloved Windows XP. And although trend favors Windows 7, it does not mean that the XP users should be left behind. Since Internet Explorer 9 won’t run on this OS, guys at TomsHardware have decided to test IE8 against the top 4 web browsers.
Web Browsers
Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.18702
Google Chrome 18.0.1025.142m

Why IE8? IE9 is the lastest version
*facepalm* IE9 isn’t on XP.
You can type, but you can’t read?
Chrome with 40 tabs using only 458MB RAM? It’s hard to believe.
Chrome easily gobbles up the entire 1GB of RAM on my laptop (but doesn’t quite eat up my 8GB of RAM in the other machine, which doesn’t work sadly).
Chrome just beats firefox in memory usage?
IMPOSSIBRU!
It’s always been the other way around for me – Firefox uses less RAM than Chrome.
That’s what makes me curious too: how the freakin’ hell did Chrome get 458 MB? Did it just push 1 gigs to catche, or what?
Firefox use less memory than chrome
But chrome is simpler than firefox
Avant browser is more stable than firefox.
But opera is faster than avant
chrome is better
There should be Chinese or local browsers in comparison/benchmark.
What a bad article. innovation (css3/html5) and security is so much important nowadays, nothing about that.. IE8 will score so incredible low on that scale and Chrome wins hands down.
Opera is most comfortable browser for professional users
I use Opera on my Linux machine, and I have to say, it’s way better than when I had Firefox, or even Midori. Even with Mail, IRC, and various other addons, Opera still never manages to eat up 512MB or much CPU either. I also use Safari in Wine, and that’s pretty speedy too.
