We hope you got used to the Mozilla’s fat release cycles already as the open source organization has just published the final version of the Firefox 13.
If you think that it’s another minor release, don’t be fooled as FF 13 does include a couple of great features worth mentioning.
As reported earlier, Firefox 13 now has a redesigned home page for quick and easy bookmarks, history and other features access. In addition to that, a new tab page has borrowed speed dial implementation from Google Chrome as it now displays the most visited pages.
Secondly, the new version of Firefox has a lot of under the hood changes as well, ranging from the SPDY networking protocol implementation, which is now enabled by default (developed by Google) and over 70 web developer tools improvements.

– When opening a new tab, users are now presented with their most visited pages
– The default home page now has quicker access to bookmarks, history, settings, and more
– SPDY protocol now enabled by default for faster browsing on supported sites
– Restored background tabs are not loaded by default for faster startup
– Smooth scrolling is now enabled by default
– 72 total improvements to Page Inspector, HTML panel, Style Inspector, Scratchpad and Style Editor
– The column-fill CSS property has been implemented
– Experimental support for ECMAScript 6 Map and Set objects has been implemented
– Support for the CSS3 background-position property extended syntax has been added
– The :invalid pseudo-class can now be applied to the element
– The CSS turn angle unit is now supported

Opera 9.20 introduced “Speed Dial Browsing”. The “Blank Page” when a new tab is opened is replaced with a page with slots which the user can set to contain live webpage bookmarks. This feature is based on the speed dial browsing in Opera Mini.[6] Opera 10 increases the possible number of speed dial entries to up to 25, and allows for larger and widescreen display layouts as well as speed dial backgrounds. User can also edit the configuration file manually to set up as many entries as wanted.

Bullshit. We grow by copying other, there’s no harm doing it.
And I’m a die hard Opera fans, I’m just happy that features I like is now available on other browser so I could jump wagon easier if Opera ever goes south (which seems likely lately).
And didn’t say that Opera and Chrome isn’t copying, but they are innovating also, and FF didn’t have any USEFUL innovation for so long time.. maybe the last useful innovation were extensions..
FF was the first browser to have a stable hw acceleration. Now I have no need for that since my cpu is already powerful enough but I’m sure there are a lot of user who appreciate it.
Also, extension. Now you might said that it’s an old innovation but in recent years what did Opera do to warrant a standing applause anyway?

I still like it either way, just get the bugs out of it before stable release and I’m a happy man.
I do not think a person going to have a pc or laptop with weak cpu and ok gpu ….
Agreed about cpu, these days are freaklishly fast. unless they invented games that need dedicated graphic card I am probaly thinking running browser with HW disabled.

There’s no way to do it manually. The sites you visit more often will be added automatically.
Yes, this speed dial is not as good as Opera’s speed dial.
You would think they’d get that in at least when they put this out the gate. Guess it’ll come in a later version but it seems like a basic thing that should have been included with this feature. Right now, I just turn it off.

Just drag and drop sites from the bookmarks bar or from the bookmarks/history sidebar. They are automatically pinned.

FF speed dial implementation still lightyears behind Opera. Altough its the contrary when it comes down to HWA/WebGL.
Tis’ true, but thankfully Opera software rendering is just as fast as FF HWA and WebGL hasn’t become relevant yet (if ever).

Just updated. Firefox keeps getting better!
I do not know why but IE went about 180 ms in peacekeeper and chrome and Opera and (palemoon or other 64 bit one is slow).
IE fast on benchmarks slow on real world. Opera slow on benchmakrs fast on real world (except https sites it just slow). for ff can’t handle games that need do mission again and just crash ….
have to agreed that almost all browsers beat Opera in https sites ….. does anybody know why ?
plus Opera can 32 bit can run up to 2 GB (private working set) and remain stable .. the problem it is bad at releasing memory.
I have ram and disk memory set to 400 MB may be that’s why, I am not sure.
One minute ago I downloaded the 13.0 update – and found that it was version 14.0 At least that’s what the Help-window said it was … Anyone comments on this (I’d be happy to upload a screendump of the help-window, but don’t know how)
