August, 2013 Desktop Market Share: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera – Up; Google Chrome – Down
Another month and another gain for Internet Explorer, up by 0.99 point, from 56.61% to 57.60%.
Despite a couple of bad months, Firefox has managed to increase its market share in the month of August, up from 18.29% to 18.88% (0.59 point increase).
If everyone’s gaining market share then someone has to lose and this time it’s Google Chrome, down from 18.29% to 16.00% (2.29 points decrease).
Next in our list: Apple’s Safari, which saw an increase of 0.17 point in its market share numbers, up from 5.42% to 5.59%.
Surprisingly, Opera has managed to reclaim some of its lost market share, up from 1.49% to 1.53% (0.04 point increase).

For what it’s worth, I’ve switched back to Firefox myself, after a long “affair” with Chrome.
The latest stable version is just as fast as Chrome, if not faster, in everything I do. The extensions are miles ahead of what Google allows, the memory consumption is lower… Everything Chrome does these days, Firefox does just as well.
Chrome is starting to feel a bit “big brotherish”, if you know what I mean. I want videos from Youtube… Wait, I can’t get them, cause Google does not allow it. An addon to stop the Google redirect… Google does not allow it. Multi threaded download addon… Can’t have it, cause Google has been ignoring users for two years on this issue.
Firefox is the “no holds barred” experience these days.
Yeah, mostly using Firefox again these days too. IE is still slow, Chrome I don’t trust, Opera… was good until they dropped version 15 on users. Firefox works the best for me.
I think they are pretty comparable even though 90 percent of the time I use Firefox when given the choice. I will probably stick with Firefox, but the australis stuff is very irritating, don’t know if I have the patience for it.
Doh
