Google Extends Chrome Support For Windows XP Until 2015
Just kill it already.
If you work at one of the organizations that still rely on Windows XP and use Google Chrome, then we have some bad news for you. Today, Google has announced that they are extending Chrome support for Windows XP until at least April 2015.
How is this bad news? Well, it means that as long as companies keep supporting outdated OS, there will be little to no initiate for organizations to finally upgrade.

This is a joke!! I just run Chrome on a Dual Core 64 bit Laptop with 1 GB RAM and Windows Vista SP1, it took so long I had already forgotten about it.
I can’t imagine this on a PC so old it still runs XP.
Considering Vista can be considered a de-evolution of Microsoft’s desktop platform (let’s not even get into Windows 8), I’m surprised you consider this a joke. What’s a joke is Microsoft every 2-3 years (and now on a yearly basis) wants OEM’s and consumers to spend exorbitant amounts of money on licensing for platforms that are marginal improvements.
XP (especially if you run the 64bit version) has aged very well, and is still a very capable operating system, its limitations are really based on the creativity of developers, even from a standpoint like gaming, many would argue the core system holds it back, but not if you use openGL or alternate API’s.
Google in the position they are as a world force software and services company could only support ChromeOS and Android, and still be on top of the world, but they choose availability and convenience, it’s their obligation to be as available to as many people on as many platforms as possible, with a quality and consistent experience.
Imagine how the world would be if people switched cars as quickly as their operating systems.. I’m sure auto makers would be happy, but would we really be better off?
There’s nothing wrong with XP, it just WORKS; and that’s all most people want anymore. Sure, maintaining something that’s certifiably old and has been replaced by several newer versions seems tedious, but sometimes it’s just the right thing to do.
they should have just stuck with xp and just kept tweaking it. the new windows versions suck. Ever since they decided to do away with xp I switched to linux. bye bye!
It’s not OS versions I care about…it’s browser versions. The only thing really wrong with XP is the fact that MS won’t support IE past IE 8 on it. That makes my life harder because roughly half my customers use IE 8 on XP. Chrome support continuing on is a boon, as the culprits in my case are schools who can’t afford new computers.
