Opera 10.50 - No Presto 2.4 for You, Prepare for Presto 2.5One of Opera employers confirmed via Twitter that Opera 10.50 will be using Presto 2.5 instead of 2.3 or Rumored 2.4.

“@Malarkey, sorry, but there will be no Presto 2.3 inside. Only 2.5. I’m not kidding ;)”

David Storey also said:

“Its not using Presto 2.3. It is using something quite a bit newer.”

Thanks to Daniel Hendrycks and somebody for links.

There is a leaked build as well as sneak preview of Opera 10.5 here. It has to be noted that this is most probably not the version to be released on Tuesday.
Features :Win7 integration, per tab private browsing, UI animations, low RAM usage.
    This build doesn’t have Carakan.

      few new observations:

      – widgets are back in OLD way, their stupid OS integration, so much despised by users seems to be recalled

      – signing to rss crashes opera 9 times out of 10, but this is pre-alpha dv build, so it doesnt matter

      – their new, menu-less-win7-native skin shows some real potential, however it still needs lots of work.

they also changed someting with their address bar search, it at least isnt hopeless, and closes gap to awesomobar or chrome bar. it is still dead last, but at least there is some movement.

    • KujaIX says:

They’ve edited the post about 10.5 on the Desktop team blog to add :
“There are some reports about an old internal build of 10.5 being available. Don’t run it, the official build on Tuesday is much better and you don’t risk getting nasty trojans on you pc.”

  2. Neko says:

Opera ridiculously deleted all messages that mentioned that leaked build. Everybody knows now what is coming on Tuesday, but in Opera they pretend that nobody knows. :D

    • nobody says:

they know jack about client relations, and live in 1990s still when it comes to marketing and teasing/revealing.

but, anyway – i like this build. it isnt fast as they’ve claimed, but it shows good signs, like admiting, that win7 exists.. soon maybe they’ll even allow users to use standard OS download dialogs in systems other than winxp

sure do hope that tuesday release includes carakan, as this build REALY isnt any faster than latest stable.

      • Iron84 says:

the hell are you saying? they’re going to releasea a pre-alpha build just for the sake of teasing people.

of course they don’t want a shitty internal build to be used, even more if this build doesn’t contain carakan since they promised “speed”.

    • Somebody says:

I think they are right in wanting to keep it a secret till the official build is available. Besides, the leaked build is an old internal build and the new one probably contains more goodies.
This version is promising though and has a lot of potential.

    • nvm says:

Looks like this isn’t the build that’s coming. It seems to be old/outdated:

“There are some reports about an old internal build of 10.5 being available. Don’t run it, the official build on Tuesday is much better and you don’t risk getting nasty trojans on you pc.”

  3. Pallab says:

Yeah. You are right. Evenes uses presto 2.5.18.

    • nobody says:

and because it uses presto 2.5 i was able to test dragonfly debugging tool.

and what is new? damn higlight tool. nothing more.

oh, well, there is also some neat scope/zoom+colorpicker type tool, that normaly is done with firefox extension.

to all naive people waiting for opera’ new developer tools – you are naive.
