Internet Explorer 9 32 bit (x86) vs. IE9 64 bit (x64)
Today, we look at IE9 Beta (x86-64) vs. (x86) performance benchmarks. With the recent Flash Player release for 64 bit systems, it’s time to find out, how good (or not) 64-bit web browser really is.
System:
Intel Core2Duo E6750 @ 2.6 GHz
4 GB RAM
Software:
Windows 7
Internet Explorer 9 Beta
See benchmark results in numbers here.
Combined results (50+ tests)
So here you have it, with the exception of few tests, Internet Explorer 9 (64 bit) pretty much destroys its 32 bit brother.

It’s very misrepresentative that the red bar is less than a fifth the size of the blue bar on Total, when 87 is more than half of 133.
Fixed!

The reason why it appears to be misleading is because the axis doesn’t begin at “0”. The creator of this diagram neglected to properly label their axis.
I’m talking about the “Combined results (50+ tests)” diagram.
Nice benchmark!!
Thanks
There is a 64 bit flash?
Why wasn’t I informed?
Is it possible to test other 64 bit browser?
32 apps need to die.

Not sure about other browsers, FF should work as well.
Unfortunately there’s no EASY way to make X64 the default IE browser. (Invocation from other programs etc…)
Just tested the SunSpider benchmark under IE9 Beta and the result is unfortunately opposite, 32-bit IE noticeable by a factor of 3 faster than IE x64. Seems that the IE team did not optimize for x64.
Yes, Sunspider will soon end up on 0MS like SSD drives, and heaven will open can’t wait…
I cannot access my emails in Sky using the 64bit version??? Have switched back to version 8 and no touble at all so for me IE9 is rubbish, sorry.
Did you turn on the Compatibility view mode to test? Some sites are broken using the default mode.
