IE6 Countdown

IE6 Countdown

In the world where it’s cool to hate Internet Explorer 6, Microsoft has launched a new site that displays the market share of this abomination.

By using data from Net Applications, web developers have put up a nice worldwide map which shows IE6 usage for every country.

Who takes the lead? China, with staggering 34.5%.

Thanks, RamaSubbu SK.

So, apparently we need to nuke China.

I’m sure you all know why China’s in the lead —

When you have a pirate copy of Windows XP, guess what version of IE comes with it? I don’t think you can upgrade IE if you use a pirate version, or at least many people think you can’t. They don’t exactly walk into Microsoft’s website all comfortable-like and expect service and upgrades. I think they avoid “the scene of the crime” altogether. Maybe it’s psychological?

    Who cares IE6? Really?

  4. Armin says:

This map isn’t any better! The fact that so many people use a version of Internet Explorer that is nearly three versions behind is worrying too. :[
