Details About IronMonkey And ScreamingMonkey
Hello everyone,
Sorry for not writing anything interested in a past few days, I was in some kind of not planned vacation. Anyways, time for the news.
Mozilla team updated us by providing more details about IronMonkey and ScreamingMonkey. Here are some quotes from their post.
The critical, core, component of this is the Tamarin virtual machine (which is an Open Sourced version of the ActionScript Virtual Machine that powered the Adobe Flash Player). Tamarin already supports ECMAScript 3 (and, thusly, JavaScript, ActionScript, and JScript) and parts of the upcoming ECMAScript 4 specification.
JavaScript will no longer be the only viable scripting language in browsers that use that Tamarin engine. At the very least, there’ll be two more languages to work with.
ScreamingMonkey is the effort, being led by Mark Hammond, to allow the Tamarin engine to run within non-Mozilla browsers, starting with Internet Explorer.
ScreamingMonkey Planning Notes.
That’s a brief, here’s a full story to read (if you want to).

It’s not a final release, only a weekly, use it on your own risk.
Safari 3.0.3 Beta Released
Not so long time ago they have released Safari 3.0.3 Beta. Actually I think it was on July 31st when I wrote “Where’s Safari 3.0.3 Beta?“. It’s recommended to get this update (if you are using any previous Safari 3 Beta version). Sorry for a delay, but somehow I haven’t noticed this release.
Changelog doesn’t say much, but enough to understand what was done.

Improved stability.

2007 July Browsers Market Share Results
It’s about time. Right, new market share results. See June results here.
Shall we begin?
Internet Explorer market share keeps growing. From 78.84% to 78.98% (0.14% increase). Wonder if it will reach 80% or not.
In the previous month Firefox increased it’s market share by 0.01%. However, this month they have lost a bit of it. From 14.55% to 14.37% (0.18% decrease).
And how’s Safari doing? Very well I guess. In the previous month Safari lost some market share, but with an iPhone and other stuff they managed to increase their market share. From 4.49% to 4.56% (0.07% increase).
Last month Opera managed to reach highest it’s market share ever (0.91%). But this month Opera lost some of it. From 0.91% to 0.89% (0.02% decrease).
Netscape browser keeps losing it’s market share. From 0.78% to 0.75% (0.03% decrease). Last month lost some too.
And yes, Opera Mini continues growing. From 0.21% to 0.24% (0.03% increase).
Here’s a graph of current browsers market share. Thanks to HitsLink.

10 Reasons Why Opera 10 (Peregrine) Will Be Special
I know, I know, it’s still long way to go and we even haven’t tried Opera 9.5 yet, but it’s worth to read anyway (I guess).
1. Come on, it’s Opera 10. That already makes it special.
2. New rendering engine.
3. Stunning performance.
4. More stability than ever before (no lies).
5. Increased security.
6. Very user-friendly interface. New skin I guess.
7. More applications that runs outside web browser.
8. Advanced stuff for web developers.
9. No more problems with various web pages. I guess that before Opera 10 first releases, Opera browser will already have like 2% +- market share (maybe more, depends on their strategy), so less web developers will ignore it.
10. Something BIG which makes you excite about it. We know that with every new Opera web browser release, they add something fantastic. That’s probably the best reason why Opera 10 will be so special.
Most of those features are basically announced with every new any web browser release… Oh well… Just my 2 cents… They keep hiding all the greatest information :-) So it’s more like a guess. Keep waiting for Opera 10.
Where’s Safari 3.0.3 Beta?
It’s been a month since last Safari 3 release (3.0.2).
Assuming that it only took less than 2 weeks to release Safari 3.0.2 right after 3.0.1 was released this makes me wonder a bit… I am wondering if Safari developers team are developing it silently or they just wanted to get more attention before iPhone release.
If anyone knows any Safari 3 developers blogs (where they are talking about upcoming releases, but not about released versions), please let me know.
