Avant Browser To Use 4 Rendering Engines
It looks like web browsers with dual or triple rendering engines are becoming more and more popular (thanks to Maxthon and Lunascape).
Earlier this month, the Avant team has a released a dual engine web browser, which as it turns out, wasn’t good enough.
In the forum post (noticed by one of our readers), Avant staff member has announced that they already developing a “three core” web browser that is set to use Gecko (Firefox), Webkit (Google Chrome, Safari) and Trident (Internet Explorer) rendering engines.
Set to debut in 2-3 months, it was also revealed that the next Avant Browser will use four rendering engines: IE7, IE9, Gecko and Webkit.
A few too many, don’t you think so?
[Thanks, Blake]

Why in the world would they keep the IE7 engine? Would be be too hard to remove since that was their original singular rendering engine? It seems to me Gecko is the best of the four engines by far.
Sorry but “popular” isn’t the word to define this.
Instant joke: 4x more useless.
Completely overkill. Gecko or Webkit would have sufficed.
But with so many excellent browsers on the market today, Avant Browser needs to pull a rabbit out of a hat, otherwise no-one would use the browser, or even know about their existence.
I seem to be having trouble counting I only get 3 Rendering Engines Gecko, Trident & Webkit ?
Here’s a thought:
IE7 for legacy web apps and sites.
IE9 for comparing app and site compatibility with IE7.
Gecko for viewing in Firefox.
WebKit for pretending you’re using Chrome.
But then again it’s far too many. Look what LunaScape has and how sluggish it feels.
look man lunascape is the best…
it has more benefits than other browser in the market ..
I didn’t mean to put the browser down, what I meant was the effort to integrate them all has resulted in a code mess. Could you imagine the codebase if it went open source?!
The only good thing LS is good for is web development to check site compatibility.

Double-posted. :(
When Im using Firefox is like using 4 different browsers. It have an ugly colors like IE, UI like Chrome and Opera and memory holes like FF.
may be usefull only for webdevellpers to check if everything works correctly. But if everything is correctly implemented, it is not necesarry no have 3 or 4. For browsing you need only one rendering engine. I love Opera and Seamonkey, Opera implements new things very fast, Seamonkey implements them later, but sometimes better, but facebook games work well only with Chrome …
wow, cool! I like it,you just need to install one browser, but you can have the experience of four browsers’ rendering engine. It’s really convenient when you have problem to display certain pages, just one click the change the rendering engine without close your browser or any page. I can’t wait to use it. When will it be released?
Now i use avant ultimate 2012 which is based on gecko and trident core .It is really good .some websites can’t open in some core so i have to open this website in other browsers.so you must have two browsers. When you have a dual-core browser, just change the rendering mode.Don’t need the other browsers.I support dual-core browser and Avant browser.Hope Avant browser will push out three core browser soon.
Sounds good. When will it release? I’ll have a try,
Webkit open source ?
Gecko open source?
Why not combine the two in one engine
Best parts of both engines + optimizations = awesome
Peculiar how only the small time web browser makers are picking up on this trend of having more than one rendering engine.
so cool ~
now i use avant ultimate 2012 which is based on gecko and trident core .
Some of you guys probbly never even installed it just talking like you know it all smh… this browser is good might be one of my fav next to opera and maxthon
lunascape is awesome too and super fast i can use the gecko engine and use firefox addons..now what kind of browser can do that?!
lunascape starts slowly, avant browser with firefox engine starts
faster. i hope the three core avant browser keeps the good work. Good Work!
I am now using the dual-core Avant browser with firefox rendering engine. it runs stable and fast, not as the one lunascape crashed the first time I used it. However, the one thing I like more in Avant is the video downloader. Really useful.
I am using the three core of avant .so far
so good.
I can drag and drag a tab out of my browser
.it seems a standalone player
