Opera 9.5 First Look with EV Certificates Enabled
Opera team is showing us a very first screenshot of Opera 9.5 (codename “Kestrel”) with extended validation 1.0 (EV) enabled.

“Mozilla is excited to see the new Extended Validation Guidelines that have resulted from collaboration between Certificate Authorities,” said Window Snyder, Chief Security Officer for the makers of the Firefox web browser. “EV SSL will make it easier for Firefox to tell users who is behind the website they’re seeing, which is an important factor in making trust decisions.”
Extended Validation Guidelines
The issuance process of EV Certificates is strictly defined in the EV Guidelines, that specify all the steps required for a Certification Authority (CA) before issuing a certificate, and includes:
- Verifying the legal, physical and operational existence of the entity
- Verifying that the identity of the entity matches official records
- Verifying that the entity has exclusive right to use the domain specified in the EV Certificate
- Verifying that the entity has properly authorized the issuance of the EV Certificate

Firefox Developes Patches 25% Faster
According to Mozilla Security blog, Firefox developes various patches 25% faster than in the previous year.
It took only 8 days to release 1.5.0.6 since 1.5.0.5 was released and 6 days to release Firefox 2.0.0.4 since 2.0.0.3 release.
I would like to congratulate whole Firefox team for doing such a great job and providing users latest updates in so short time.
Other web browsers should learn from that. When it comes to security
and updating, they become the most important factors for a successful web browser.

Firefox won the 1’st place, second was Opera, third: Internet Explorer
and 7’th was Safari.
Firefox 3 Alpha 6 Soon to Come
If you knew or not, Firefox 3 Alpha 6 will be released on June 29, 2007.
It’s still a long way to go till we see Firefox 3 Final release.
Previous Firefox 3 release (Alpha 5) offered a first look to it’s brand new bookmarks, history and other page information storing/management system.
As always, latest release will fix many bugs, which you can report here and maybe some other announced features.

Is Mozilla News Page Outdated?
So I was looking for some news regarding Firefox and found their “Press Releases and Announcements” page.
However, I am not able to find any information about Firefox 2.0.0.4 even if it was released some time ago.
That’s not a big thing, but they should announce it there.
