Everyone Loves IE – Sitemeter Kills Thousands of Sites for IE Users
The behavior began few days ago whene Sitemeter updated their scripts. Unfortunately, they forgot about a bug of the Internet Explorer (really old one) that has been causing a “Operation aborted” error.
If your web page had a Sitemeter counter, Internet Explorer users eventually see an “Operation aborted” error message. Once they click OK, the whole page disappears and is replaced by a blank page.
Whose fault is this? Both of course. However, this is not a new and/or unknown bug; they just didn’t test it on Internet Explorer = bad idead.

Opera Dragonfly. An Interview with David Storey
CSS Dzone recently published an interview with David Storey from Opera Software. Feel free to check it. Storey was probably interviewed long time ago (although published on 2008/07/08 – 5:45pm) as one of the questions are:
With the Opera browser being in it’s second beta cycle for the Kestrel release and Dragonfly only having entered Alpha, can we as developers expect a GA version of Dragonfly to accompany the GA release of Kestrel?
How to Turn Off Opera Dragonfly?
I would like to give a small tip to Opera team. Please, add a feature to turn off developer tools by using “X” button in the right corner. I actually haven’t figured out yet how turn it off. Though remember that somehow I managed to do that in old builds.

Opera Dragonfly, 10 Days Remaining
Opera Dragonfly… The big secret was finally revealed. As it was expected, Opera Dragonfly is developer tools. Firefox had Firebug for a long time so it’s not a big surprise that Opera decided to create something like that as well… As David Storey said: “Opera has been lacking real developer tools far too long”. Alpha version will be released on May 6th, 2008. There aren’t many known details yet, we’re waiting.
About Web Design Usability
So yesterday I’ve received a book called “Web Design for ROI: Turning Browsers into Buyers & Prospects into Leads” and just finished reading it. No, I usually don’t finish books in a few days :-) There were a plenty of interesting points. Since I’m a web designer myself (and most of the FavBrowser.com visitors owns web sites as well), thought I’ll let you know about it too. Also, there was one funny phrase (not the only one) which I’d like to quote. It tells a bit about web designers and what they experience sometimes.
Sure, I can make the box blue instead of red. Of course that will ruin the design integrity of the web page, so I’ll have to redesign the whole thing. But now that I know you only care about the box being blue, I can probably do whatever I want with the rest of the page and you’ll never notice.
What about you? Have you recently finished reading any interesting books (no, not novels :-))?
Web Browsers Compatibility – CSS Selectors
Your site looks different in Internet Explorer (IE), Firefox, Safari, Opera and any other web browser? If you’re a web developer, then you must know that making the web page to look exactly the same on every web browsers is a hard job to do.
Fortunately, there’s a solution to eliminate the differences in padding and margin for all web browsers. All you have to do is insert the following code into your CSS: Continue Reading
Opera Dragonfly Update
More news about Opera Dragonfly… It looks like the web page was updated (hidden comment is now removed as well). New Opera Dragonfly web page now offers an opportunity to subscribe into Opera’s products mailing list, got some “sneaky” stuff as well as the following text: Continue Reading
Opera Dragonfly, No News for You
Some time ago David Storey wrote an article on his blog about “a mysterious project” called “Opera Dragonfly”. Although he said that “We’ll likely have more to say about it at SxSW in Austin Texas.”, we haven’t heard anything yet (at least I haven’t). What about you? Looks like they’ve just decided not to release any more details yet…
