Chrome Overtakes Safari in Market Share Race
Well, this certainly wasn’t a big surprise. During the last month of 2009, Google Chrome (4.63% market share) became world’s 3rd most used web browser, overtaking Apple’s Safari (4.46%).
In other news, Internet Explorer market share went down from 63.62% to 62.69% (0.93 point decrease).
Firefox also lost some of the market share, going down from 24.72% to 24.61% (0.11 point decrease).
As reported, Google Chrome increased its market share by 0.7 point, going up from 3.93% to 4.63%.
Safari market share also went up, from 4.36% to 4.46% (0.1 point increase).
With the launch of Opera 10.50 pre-alpha, this browser market share increased by 0.09 point, going up from 2.31% to 2.40%.
Opera Mini also had a nice increase and went up from 0.46% to 0.53% (0.07 point increase).

Wait, Firefox lost share?! Has that ever happened before?

Nice now its Chrome vs. Firefox vs. Opera (I ignored Internet Explorer on purpose,it will die soon if IE9 is not VERY good,I mean at the level of at least Fx 3.6) (I also ignored Safari because it does not impress me as much as Fx GC and O.)

No, they just need to be fast, secure, and practically re-do Gecko.
I really don’t get these messages, Chrome is just nothing, except massive promotion! How can you compare Firefox with Chrome (or Opera with Chrome)?
Because Chrome has EVERYTHING Firefox has,including extensions and Firefox will have everything Chrome has only in 2011 so…want a good browser NOW after 2 years that’s just a mashup of Opera 10.5 and Chrome.But its good that at least they are going in the good direction.
why opera mini there? isn’t this was supposed for desktop browser market share? how about creating a post with mobile browser market share that include opera mini, skyfire, bolt, fennec (if any), opera mobile, mobile safari (and other webkit based)
Its about web browsers. No mobile safari, skyfire and etc. because they arent popular enough
