CrashOpera.com Will Kill Your Browser
Some time ago, we wrote about the site that was supposed to crash Internet Explorer but as it turns out, it was cheating and crashed pretty much every browser once you change browser identification.
Well, today we have a new site for you: Crash Opera.
No tricks, just a simple .gif file and yes, it will crash Opera.

Gif creator fault
Facebook browser is crap, but everyone already knows that.
Liked. [/irony]
Let me guess, somebody stole your sweet roll.
When I had Opera, it could crash without the help of this website. No browser is perfect, and I’ve come to the conclusion, that here, on favbrowser.com, you seem to worship Opera as if it’s some celestial creation. Pathetic, every browser sucks, I use Firefox now, but it has memory leaks, Chrome has them too, Opera doesn’t have many features that I need and it doesn’t render certain pages correctly. As someone has pointed out, let’s see what Safari 6.0 will be like.
Actually, I am a known hater and troll among other Opera fans
IE has its share of problems (mainly security), Firefox doesn’t seem to like the YouTube HTML5 Player anymore, Chrome is just bloated, Opera is becoming irrelevant and Safari is getting old (although Safari 6 is due to come out with Mountain Lion on Wednesday and I’d like to check it out when it does come out).
I would argue about IE9 security but lets just wait for IE10 :)
Interestingly, Microsoft is becoming a leader in this area

IE’s getting there but ActiveX still remains as an issue. I like the concept of ActiveX but the amount of flaws found by exploiting it is too high for a product as mainstream as IE.
Only IE10 will tell.
This really crashed my new Opera!
So…
Even todays snapshot crashed!!
Wow, a fucking snapshot, not even beta, software crashed! Color me fucking surprised.
That snapshot said something about a crash fix, just tried and perhaps it wouldnt be affected.

I know it I was wrong.
Honestly. It’s a 13 MB GIF file! It didn’t crash my Opera Next snapshot — it just locked it up. What else would you expect? Give me an instance where 13 MB GIFs are used. GIFs are hardly used anymore, and the ones that are used are usually only tiny 2 KB non-animated files.
I’d rather see Opera address relevant stability issues rather than improving the playback of huge animated GIFs.
TheVerge, MISC, Reddit
I would expect for a web browser to work
the verge runs good with ha enabled
Misc: done a quick search and did not find the website
reddit: whats wrong? it runs very wel, no lag.
Sooo, who did you hear the accusation from? Cause it’s obvious you don’t even have Opera installed.
Silly.
Every browser crashes, even your favorite.
Even so, every (known) crash should be addressed.
Do you want to know a way to make Opera die without using a huge gif file?
Well then, design a website with Joomla in Opera, after a few minutes it goes nuts, really nuts!
I have designed 4 websites (1 heavy, 2 basic, 1 in between) in Joomla (1.5 &2.5) and apart from the earliest 1.5 versions, I found it worked pretty well. Perhaps there are issues with it, but I haven’t come across them (yet).
Today’s 12.01 RC fixes a.o.:
CORE-45593 Freeze on gif file due to LzwStringTable circular reference
Haven’t tested it out yet.
Another nice one:
CORE-47339 Nested redirected call handling breaks Disqus
Oo, that’s great, will wait for 12.5 build before testing this out
Opera 11.64 doesn’t crash. I can easily just close that tab.
Opera 12 is just not stable enough for me to use it. Hopefully 12.01 will improve..
“Hopefully 12.01 will improve.”
It has. Opera 12.01 RC1 – http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2012/07/27/1201-rc
From the changelog: “CORE-45593 Freeze on gif file due to LzwStringTable circular reference”.
