Download Firefox 9 BetaEven though the Final build of Firefox 8 web browser was released just little than a week ago, Mozilla has already began working on future versions and has now released the Firefox 9 Beta.

So what’s new?

There are couple of changes, the most significant being a newly added Type Interface, which drastically improves JavaScript performance.

  • Added Type Inference, significantly improving JavaScript performance
  • Improved theme integration for Mac OS X Lion
  • Added two finger swipe navigation for Mac OS X Lion
  • Added support for querying Do Not Track status via JavaScript
  • Added support for font-stretch
  • Improved support for text-overflow
  • Improved standards support for HTML5, MathML, and CSS
  • Fixed several stability issues

    I find it probably one and a half times quicker than FF8.

    If you are using lots of add-ons, restart the browser with add-ons disabled and see how you go. Go through the add-ons and enable them one at a time so they are the only add-on that’s running. This should quickly enable you to see if any of them are causing the slow down.

    Otherwise I would recommend posting at forums.mozillazine.org and asking for advice.

    If you want help then you need to post more detail about your system, add-ons rather than just saying it’s slow. If  however you’re just doing some light trolling, then good luck to you.
