Google Gets Aggressive With Chrome Promotion
Gives away exclusive items in Runescape.
What happens when you have marketing team that thinks outside the box (or at least copy ideas from other markets)? Something like this:
As one of our readers noticed, if you install Google Chrome and play one of the most successful MMORPGs of all time (Runescape that is), you will receive an exclusive item that cannot be obtained in any other way.
How much is it worth? Not much. However, if you consider that this is a limited offer, there is a chance that it might become valuable in the upcoming years.
Some of the exclusive Runescape items, like Santa Hat, are now worth nearly 200 million coins, that’s an astonishing value considering that it was worth only 250,000 – 350,000 coins back in December, 2004.
Pretty neat idea, don’t you think?

GETS aggressive? Not sure if serious… Google’s been aggressive all along. Probably spent billions promoting Chrome, including paying software companies to bundle Chrome secretly with their installer and install it automatically.
Reminds me of Microsoft; pays loads to promote, pays little to fix.
MS pays for using Bing, for using Windows Phone 7, for using Silverlight.. And still nobody cares :(
The Chrome goggles are not tradable in the game. Of course, that doesn’t prevent people from selling accounts with said item.
