Microsoft Reaps Rewards From The Cupcakes

Firefox with Bing

Teams up with Mozilla to release Firefox with Bing.

It looks like the delicious cupcakes that are sent after every Firefox release are finally paying off as Mozilla has just announced the availability of Firefox with Bing.

What is it all about? Unlike the default Firefox installation, which uses Google as its default search engine, Firefox with Bing will set Bing as the default search provider. In addition to that, the homepage will be also set to Bing, according to Microsoft blog.

One may ask, what’s the point when you can already choose your default search engine in the “official” Firefox release? For advanced users, there is little to no point other than saving few seconds of your precious time.

Although this might look like the Microsoft exclusive deal, it really isn’t. As of today, Mozilla has released nearly 20 of such web browser versions, ranging from Firefox with Twitter to Firefox with Yandex.

So it seems that Mozilla is trying to grab as much money as posibble before sliding into oblivion. Shame

This is not shame, they need money to run the business. This is common practice in any business. For that matter even having Google as default is for the same reason.

It’s a shame because Google gave so much money for Mozilla, and now when Chrome is threatening to crush FF, Mozilla is trying to hurt Google by partnering with MS not by making FF better with new ideas. Shame because Mozilla always are talking about high values but recently not only they shamefully are copying everything from Chrome, even faster development cycles, but also partner with MS against Google. Mozilla lost their moral principles. Mozilla is non-profit organization but if you look at their recent actions, it is easy to see that Mozilla don’t care about innovations, it only want more money to keep this Titanic floating as long as possible. Mozilla is MS of open source – stagnant, greedy and boring

A Shame? just keep on believing that nonsense. IE & Opera FanBoy said it best.

At least its easy to change the search engine with Firefox  I just had to remove an annoying search engine in IE9  & had to to change the default to Google only problem its not in the options for the United Kingdom, if you want Google you have to visit the US site.
Probably the majority of average users are put off & keep Bing as the default.
