Opera Browser, Iphone EditionWith the recent Opera 9.5 SDK for devices release and upcomming iPhone SDK, does that makes it possible?

Check “Opera Browser Coming To The iPhone” video and you decide.

Did he just said “Yes!”? No, that was just the end of conversation (or do they just want you to think so?). Not in the near future. I bet that we will see more information regarding Opera for iPhone in the upcoming months. And who knows, maybe at the end of the year, you will be reading FavBrowser.com on your iPhone using Opera ;-) Also, don’t forget Firefox Mobile and keep waiting for more news.

I don’t think so , the company will not bother making a browser for one device only
They’ll invest this time in improving the s60 one

  2. Jesmond says:

While I think that Opera mobile is an OK browser for most mobile phones, I don’t see how they can make it better than Safari Mobile…so why would people bother downloading Opera for iPhone?

    • Joemama says:

Well if you use Opera on other platforms it would be a more “seemless” alternative when using your Iphone.

have you tried safari vs opera? i have an iphone and i can’t wait for a different browser.. i hate their safari! the opera browser for my diamond is way way better..

safari can’t shov jave and flash witch is a BIG problem for me as i have different servers that i cant connect to now.. fuck safari

    • bill says:

Safari works as it should and as designed.
There are issues like resizing and reloading but it does its job.
There no doubt will be improvements over time.Till then we have to wait.
You knew what the iphone did or didn’t do when you bought it, if not shame on you. If you do not like it wait or get a new phone. But stop complaining.

      • Guido from Argentina says:

Man i believe that you may “think different”…. The Safary browser works very fine, but it really has several issues. Like the other post say, it can’t show Java apps, and can’t show flash or vídeos embebed in a web page. So Apple have to improve a better web browser, in fact, when they correct the mencionated issues, then we can refer to Safari as a “Real Web Broser”. It dosn’t matter if the product is sold “how is made” the important is the way like Apple think about the people like me, that has own 2 iPhones, the first one, and teh 3GS. greetings from Argentina! Happy 2010!!

‘Don’t think, just bite the Apple and remember that Steve is God!’

Christ, M$ gets sued for this sort of attitude but the all knowing Apple…well, ‘nuf said.

I just got a shiny new iPhone 4 and what? I cannot save an MP3 from a webpage? My 4 year windows mobile phone let me do that!! (Guess it is better for ATT to debit me another 5 MB each time I listen??)

(My onging love/hate relationship with this damn phone continues!)

        -ck

    • Moez says:

The inability of the iPhone to display Flash and Java isnt a Safari Shortcoming, it is a systemwide lack of plugin, and Apple refusing to work with Adobe to make any kind of agreement to cooperate in bringing us Flashplayer.

  4. Like most people I use several browsers, IE the least since I am on a Mac but even on Windows I use Opera or Firefox or whatever they are calling it today. I have tested each for speed and Opera also seems the fastest. In a Firefox forum I was told of course Opera is faster because it is for Utopia. I think that is another way of saying it is designed for small devices. I use Safari 4 and Opera on my Mac. Opera works very well on my wife’s Blackberry. I wish I could use it on my iPhone. Let’s face there are times when for someone reason unknown to us mere mortals a particular browser won’t work.

  5. Reza says:

I an iPhone and a P1i, Opera Mini works great but Safari seems to have problems for example it opens regular facebook compeletly fucked up!

  6. Dotcompals says:

Safari the only browser available for iphone … And it is not enough. There are several display problems when it comes to javascript and flash. Hope opera will be available to iphone soon.

    • Moez says:

there are other browser options in the App store, but those are geared more towards fullscreen browsing than features that safari lacks. Perfect Browser 3 (0.99) is the most popular (and also my favorite) even though the icon is a little ugly.

  7. Eric says:

Most of you need to shut up.

Opera blows every browser out the water once you learn how to use it.

I would ask that the developers at Opera keep the Text only option to save on data fees, make sure the i-Phone OS 3.O copy paste is supported and that they implement Opera’s Speed dial as I love it!

The only issue I have with Opera Java related which IE seems to handle better but for all you saying Safari is better that’s BS. Both browsers suffer about equally VS IE.

The only issue i have with Opera are some issues with Java that IE seems to handle better but for all you saying Safari is beter thats bullshit. both browsers suffer about equaly VS IE.

  8. mabdul says:

if a user uses opera on his desktop, opera iphone edition would benefit of the opera link function. I do think that some users want an edition!

  9. CBD says:

Opera is hands down the best browser around. To use a crappy mixed metaphor… If IE is a Ford Focus and Firefox is a Toyota Rav4… Opera is a sporty 5-speed with all-wheel drive and tinted windows. Which is to say, a pimp ride.
I just got an iPhone and was pretty disapointed that I could not install Opera on it.
Knew I should’ve gotten the Blackberry.
Guess I’ll just have to jailbreak this fucker.

  10. Randy says:

I would ove to see an opera browser!! I have a jailbroken Iphone and only use the WIFI when i can !!! I cannot access the WIFI at work because it is looking for an IE browser for the password verification! If i was t be able to use FF or Opera i could access it!!!

  11. hylcobroos says:

Opera had a browser ready for the iPhone but Apple forbid them to publish it because it was to much a competition with their Safari, they didn’t want to make the iPhone users happy with it.

I love Opera for mobile phones, it just works faster and easyer.

Hope apple gets smart sometime and allow opera on the iphone.

  12. Nick says:

Just got an Iphone, after having a touch HD, with opera, safari is shit !!, if I could have opera back on there, then I’ll be doing it !!, Opera wins hands down !!, the way that opera resizes pages wins hands down !! etc….

  13. TheAnalyst says:

I’ve used just about every version of Opera on winmo up to the one on HTC HD. It has so much flaws compared to Safari you would be wise to just forget it. Although Safari already beats Opera hands down, there are many other options on iPhone which are even far better than Safari. Examples include the Perfect Browser and the Full Browser.

  14. Anon says:

I remember when Microsoft got sued by the US gov’t for including IE only when released with Windows 98. They are still be sued by EU right now for the same issue.

If Microsoft cannot get away with it, how come Apple can?

  15. molecule says:

I agree, how can they get away with it? I miss opera mini, I had no idea it wasn’t allowed on iPhones.

  16. Dessa says:

I just got a iphone and I knew that when I got it that I would not be getting opera. How sad? I love my opera mini and I really really hope that the developers at opera make something for the iphone.

  17. Zubair01 says:

Hi is there any browser on iPhone that supports flash? Apart from imobilecinema which is crap

  18. CheZter says:
