Opera Passes 90 Million Users Mark
Good news today came from Opera Software headquarters, as company announced that their desktop web browser is now being used by more than 90 million users worldwide. With the upcoming Opera 10.20 Final release, we might see 100 million users very soon.
“It’s exciting that Obama has come to Oslo during this time of celebration for Opera,” said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO of Opera Software.

well, that press release is so cheap that i couldnt believe that they did this..
first – there is no definition what that ’90mln users’ mean – unique? active? measured how?
second – indirectly implying that obama came to oslo because of opera is so f.. unbelieavably cheap, that i NEVER presumed that any company will make that.
third – obama is mentioned few times, but where are his quotes? article sounds as if obama cares about opera, however, there is no real evidence inside. just indirect implications, based on something that reades are to believe, because article is written in certain way.
so, opera, how is that? have anyone from opera was at least one mile close to obama?
and how does opera measure its users?
btw. another topic is talking BS about ‘enviroment browser’.. sorrrrryy.. but using too many buzzwords sux
I think they were just making a fun press release that timed with Obama visiting Oslo. The video was hilarious.
And the environmentally friendly thing is probably to poke fun at Mozilla Firefox who say their code is organic and green and what not.
You’re just stupid. Or you have just absolutely no sense of humor. Or you hate Opera so much, that it doesn’t matter at all, how funny something is, if it’s about Opera.
Of course they did! The ones with Opera logos (which could be interpreted as “O”bama – in case you didn’t noticed, that’s why he is so important in this matter (not mentioning, that he is the President of the United States… :) ), see: http://www.alexrossart.com/news/2008/obama_full.jpg) are obviously standing next to the cordons, where Obama passed through… :)
This is incredible fun – I love it!!!
Go Opera go!!! :) :) :)
What a joke!!!!!!
This is obviously just for fun. The numbers are probably correct if if you add up all their users on PC, Mac, Mobiles, Nintendo etc. They are even bigger than iPhone on mobile browsing, so I have no doubt in their numbers.
Check the text at the bottom of the video. “Best friend’s Girl friend. Vegetarian ruins Banquet order for 300 people” . LOL :) .
I can’t believe someone is turning this video into a serious discussion. It was meant to be a joke! Srsly.
well.. it was in ‘press releases’ section
it contained some very important to opera information (90mln users) and some claims about its dynamics (that it should grow by the time opera 10.20 launches)
it wasnt released at 1 aprill etc.
so if it is a joke, then these 90 milions DESKTOP users are just pure lie?
for a marketing stunt it wasnt clear enough, for a press release it was obviously cheapest move ever, for a mixture of both..
well, if you mix one outrageus claim with some facts, you get neither press release, neither something funny.
it is a move in right direction (movie was quite good actualy) but still their marketing division uses methods that are a bit old now.
This was published as a press release as well: http://www.opera.com/press/releases/2005/04/21/
You didn’t seriously think he was actually planning to do it?

They are probably talking about 90 million Opera Desktop+Mini users. Desktop recently broke 45 million didn’t it? And Opera Mini reached 40 million or so a while ago. It has probably reached 45 million by now, then.
It’s a joke. No need to get all upset over it.
About that first link, he really did try it. http://news.cnet.com/Opera-CEO-starts-Atlantic-swim/2100-1032_3-5683356.html
No, he didn’t. Once again, him attempting to do a transatlantic swim was also a joke.
Btw, I think Vygantas got it wrong when he said “desktop web browser is now being used by more than 90 million users worldwide.”
Desktop users wont be more than 50 million.
Could be little be serious to Opera.

OF course it is a joke. Opera has so little experience in marketing their browser that these crappy articles are all that they come up with. That article spread more lies about Opera than make jokes.
It’s mean to be a joke. Lighten up.
What lies?
