Microsoft: Windows 7 SP1 Is Not Required
Following TechNet FAQ that suggests on installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1 before IE9 itself, company went ahead and updated their web page, claiming that SP1 is not necessary.
I want to follow up to let you know that the TechNet FAQ has been updated to provide further clarification about requirements for Internet Explorer 9. Internet Explorer 9 will work on Windows 7 RTW and Windows 7 SP1. When you install Internet Explorer 9 on a system that has Windows 7 RTM installed, additional operating system components are included as part of the installation of Internet Explorer 9. Those “additional operating system components” will be part of Windows 7 SP1. Either way, this will be a seamless process for the user. Just wanted to make sure you had the latest.
With such statement, there is still a hope to see Internet Explorer 9 Final by the end of this year.
Want IE9? Install Windows 7 Service Pack 1
If no Windows XP support for was not enough, then here is another bit: according to Microsoft’s technet site, Internet Explorer 9 will require Windows 7 users to install SP1 before even using a web browser.
That explains why IE9 setup insisted on downloading 4 OS hotfixes and requiring a reboot, as a result.
Also, since Windows 7 SP1 is due in the first half of 2011, don’t expect Internet Explorer 9 Final anytime sooner.
Firefox 4 Receives Paste and Go
It looks like Firefox developers are following Opera and Chrome web browsers, as latest builds now include a much needed, “Paste and Go” functionality in both, address bar and search engine forms.
Just like in Opera or Google Chrome, menu will appear after you right click on one of the forms. If everything works as expected, you may also assign a shortcut, such as CTRL+B or any other.

Firefox 4 to Include Optimized Session Restore
Recently, Firefox 4 nightly builds has received a yet another feature that is “cascaded sessions restore”.
From now on, when you restart Firefox, all your opened tabs won’t be opened at once. Instead, three most important pages (number can be changed, see .sessionstore.max_concurrent_tabs) will load firstly.
For example: if you switch to a different tab, Firefox will start loading it immediately, even if it didn’t before. Result? More usable web browser during launch.
As authors say, idea is based on Firefox BarTab extension.
Another IE9 Ad Spotted
It appears that Microsoft is trying really hard to hype its web browser. With previously spotted IE9 ads, here is another one, straight from eHow web site.
If you happen to click on it, ad will redirect you to the following page:

Internet Explorer 9: Two Million Downloads and Counting
According to Microsoft, with the recent Internet Explorer 9 Beta release, browser was already downloaded more than 2 million times over the period of two days. Considering overall hype, those numbers do look okay.
In comparison, IE8 Beta was downloaded only 1.3 million times and it took them five days to do so.
