Proper Web Browser (Picture)
Now here is an interesting one. TaerkEX, a member of DeviantART has created a simple APNG (Animated PNG) animation.
What’s so great about that?
Well, picture contains two frames. Therefore, if your browser does not support APNG, you should only see the very first one.
Like this (.gif format):
Otherwise (.gif format):
Here is original picture, open this post in two different browsers and you shall see the difference.
Pretty neat, huh?

It’s a real shame APNG is not going to be an open standard :( It’s so much better than MNG… It’s retrocompatible and it’s easy to implement support for it.
Congratulations, I can watch APNGs.
:)
Me too, how great !! :)
Its interesting technique indeed. I wonder does Chrome is going to implement it?
I cant see the animation in Firefox 3.6 or Opera 10.53.
It shouldn’t move, what do you see in the 3rd picture? If it’s same as http://www.favbrowser.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/apng2.gif animation worked for you :-)
Why is it using the old Opera logo?
That is the same question I asked myself.
I wanted to use APNGs some time ago. Then I realised not many browsers supported it. To my knowledge only Opera had it. Good to see FF supporting it aswell.
BTW if these were meant to move they do not. Seems like they only contain 1 frame.

There’s a reason that the APNG spec is over at the Mozilla wiki…
