SkyDrive Sends 2 Million Characters To Firefox And Opera
Hangs the latter.
Just recently, Opera users started reporting an issue, which caused their browser to become unstable while browsing SkyDrive photos. Now, according to Opera’s Hallvord R. M. Steen, the root cause is Microsoft itself.
As stated in the blog post, SkyDrive suffers from a bug, which sends two million NULL characters during every browsing session that results in a 100% CPU usage.
Interestingly enough, while both Firefox and Opera users experience this issue, Opera is the only web browser that hangs up due to the less efficient NULL chars handling. Fortunately, this will be optimized in the future Opera builds.
Whether or not SkyDrive sends 2 million characters to IE or Google Chrome remains to be seen.

Why would anyone use SkyDrive in the first place. It ought to be the most terrible file sharing service ever concieved by a corporation.
I dont use it to share, I dont give a fuck about sharing services, its a back up tool too, and thats what I use it for.

There where talks about Opera beeing on sale, and Facebook looking to enter browser market.

Opera was rumoured to be bought out by Facebook. That rumour never came true.
Firefox handled this properly. Then again, Microsoft probably tested Skydrive in Firefox, so if there had been a bug it would have been fixed on the site.
The only reason it affects Opera is that it wasn’t tested in Opera by Microsoft. Any other major browser would have gotten a fix on their end. Which is why you would only see something like this in Opera.
The article starts with “hangs the former” (which is Firefox) but then later says it hangs Opera (the latter).
V, you might want to fix the part where it says “Fortunately, this will e optimized in the future Opera builds.” :-)
